BASICS;;
Name: Leon of House Shairfel
Class: Arch Knight
Country: Megam
Age: 25
Birthdate: August 17, 601 [leo]
Family: Father, Mother (NEEDS NAMES, DOTS), Sister // Alma
Languages: Trade [fluent], Megam [fluent], High Megam [well]
Mount Name: William
Weapon Proficiencies: Sword, Bow, Crossbow
Blood Type: B
HISTORY ;;
House Shairfel owns the idyllic, relatively small island that takes its name from the House and contains only the manor, a small town, a chapel, some ruins, and a great deal of jungle. Leon was bored with Shairfel almost from the moment he was born, immediately setting about creating ways to keep himself entertained.
Lessons held absolutely no interest to him whatsoever; Leon needed to live large and loud. No nearby children were safe from being roped into his games (which were, most often, fixed to make him to likely winner) and Leon became known as a terrorizer to the commons. His parents lamented his nature, as well as how utterly unresponsive he was to any sort of displine. They searched for any method possible to make their son calm down and behave and learn proper respectful behaviour.
They never would have guessed that it would be an unintentional action that pushed their son into submission. The birth of their second chid.
Leon was enchanted with Alma from moment one, always demanding to hold her, buying her toys and reading her stories. It seemed as if all his previous interest in his games had faded in the face of the baby sister who he was utterly in love with.
As Alma grew, Leon matured. He began to take his lessons seriously, and retired almost completely from terrorizing the commons. He helped his father keep books in order to earn money all his own to buy gifts for her whenever he could. He seemed to view himself as her Example, that how he lived was going to change how she lived, and that mattered the world to him.
Of course, it's impossible to change one's nature, and when Alma was sent to a nearby convent, Leon found himself sinking into old habits. He was still competitive and active as ever. His parents saw where it was headed, and channeled him into more respectable outlets. Archery, fencing, horse racing and jumping. His parents saw this as being much better than his previous activities, and encouraged it, training commons to be his opponents and modelling the area around their manor to be a sportsman's paradise. They also -- reluctantly -- dipped into their coffers to give him frequent trips to Chimer. At least, they assumed, if he got all his vice out in the lig leisure city, he wouldn't be tempted to bring it home with him.
And so his life continued, the same satisfactorily stimulating pattern that he was quite happy with. Spend mostly all his time with Alma when she was there, distract himself when she wasn't. While a part of him realized this couldn't last forever, he hoped it would.
A hurricane struck while his mother was ferrying to a nearby island, and she died. The event hit Leon hard, though he tried to hide it, to be strong for Alma, who was completely devastated. He was there for her all he could be, while saving his own grief for when he was alone. Leon had loved his mother dearly, and is still haunted by regrets that he couldn't show that to her more visibly when she was alive.
It wasn't long after that when Alma met Aubrey.
Leon hated the other man from the first momemt. Whether it was because Alma liked him so much or just because there was something about him than rubbed him the wrong way, every time Leon saw him, he ground his teeth. Worse was that he couldn't manage to convince Alma not to see him, though he kept his disapproval a bit less vocal than his father's impassioned reservations.
The more close Aubrey and Alma have become -- companions, friends, dear friends, flirting, courting -- the less Leon has liked their relationship. He tells himself its because he doesn't trust Aubrey, but part of him knows that it's far more likely its because it seems like Alma has finally found someone who matters more to her than he does.
He has thrown himself back into his games and his distractions and picked up a bit of the less cultured behaviour of his childhood to distract himself from this double onslaught of drastic change in a life he thought was quite perfect the way it was.
PERSONALITY ;;
Leon is a confident, social nobleman, polite, cultured, and charismatic.
He is not and has never been a particularly religious man, but, realizing that he certainly should be, tends to put on large pious shows, an example that he's pleased to see Alma follow. A showy person in general, he actually enjoys the attention that such "faith" gets him, as much as he enjoys the attention he gets for his sporting endeavours and essentially everything else he does.
He's ridiculously competitive. He doesn't see this as a problem -- and in fact, doesn't see it much at all. He becomes quite irritated when others point it out, especially in a chastising matter. Yes, he likes to compete, and he likes to win when he does, was that so bad? Everyone likes to win, nobody likes to lose.
The most important person to Leon is Alma. She's the Rhaieen to his Eban, as far as he's concerned, and he'll do anything to make her smile and laugh, and most importantly, to see that she's safe. He's zealously protective of her to the point of nearly being jealous.
While Leon has a great deal of desire to indulge in vice, for the sake of his family's image and his own honour, he keeps himself above those lines drawn by the Scriptures, walking the tightrope of moderation as precariously as he can.
APPERANCE ;;
Leon is an incredibly good looking young man, with longish golden hair and the same purple eyes his sister shares. He's tall, athletically built, and wears only the finest of clothes. Every bit of his appearance exudes confident nobility.
